French Tech transactions — August 2026.
What the last three months tell CEOs considering a sale.
ASA Partners is pleased to share its latest French Tech Transactions report (téléchargeable ici en version complète), covering recent M&A and funding activities across France.
The French tech M&A market remained active through June and July before slowing sharply in August, largely due to seasonality. Across the transactions we tracked this summer as well as our advisory discussions, buyers consistently targeted companies that give them control over a strategic capability: software workflows, proprietary data, regulated infrastructure, industrial execution, vertical expertise or customer access.
Key Market Highlights
Strategic buyers are active — but highly selective
Software remains the most active segment with capital and attention concentrated on businesses that bring a clear strategic capability. Buyers are filling specific strategic gaps rather than acquiring pure volume.
Consolidation is increasingly about product depth
Several transactions over the summer involved buyers extending existing software platforms rather than entering entirely new verticals.
Exemples : En juin, Orisha a finalisé des acquisitions ciblées pour renforcer ses briques verticales, tandis qu'Akeneo a intégré une solution de pricing dopée à l'IA.
AI is becoming infrastructure, not a feature
The strongest AI-related transactions are increasingly tied to real operational use cases: workflow automation, industrial simulation, pricing optimisation, infrastructure and data control.
For sellers, saying "We use AI" is no longer enough. The winning story is: "We control a critical workflow or proprietary data layer, and AI makes that position significantly more valuable."
